Plugins add commands, protection, minigames and quality-of-life features to your server. Levyathan has a built-in plugin browser powered by the Modrinth catalog - no file juggling needed.
Plugins require a Paper server. Vanilla servers cannot load plugins - if you created a Vanilla server, you can switch the type by creating a Paper server and uploading your world folder via the file manager.
Installing a plugin
- 1Open your server and switch to the Plugins tab.
- 2Search for a plugin (try EssentialsX, LuckPerms or WorldEdit) - results show the author, download count, and a warning chip if a plugin may not match your Minecraft version.
- 3Click Install. We pick the newest release that is compatible with your server’s exact version.
- 4Restart the server - plugins only load at startup.
- 5Check it worked: type "plugins" into the console; loaded plugins show in green.
Removing or updating
Remove a plugin from the same tab (its settings folder under plugins/ is kept, so reinstalling later picks up where you left off). To update, remove and reinstall - you always get the newest compatible release.
Need a plugin that is not on Modrinth? Upload its .jar into the plugins/ folder with the Files tab - same effect, just manual.
