Anyone who knows your address can try to join your server. The Players tab gives you the tools to decide who actually gets in - no console commands needed.
The whitelist (recommended for friend servers)
- 1Open your server’s Players tab while the server is online.
- 2Flip "Enforced" on in the Whitelist section - from now on only listed players can join.
- 3Add each friend’s exact Minecraft username (capitalisation does not matter, spelling does).
- 4Friends on the list join normally; everyone else is politely refused by the game itself.
Operators
Operators ("ops") can run any command in-game: teleporting, changing the time, giving items, kicking players. Give it only to people you trust with the server - an op can also grant op to others. Add or remove operators in the Players tab.
Kicks and bans
Online players can be kicked (one-off - they can rejoin) or banned (kept out until you pardon them) straight from the "Online now" list. Bans and pardons take effect immediately.
Note: changes need the server online - while it is asleep, the lists are shown read-only from its saved files.
